Four hundred years separate Pärt from Palestrina, but this is of little significance when their music sounds. On this new CD, released on the label Globe, the Nederlands Kamerkoor led by Risto Joost brings both composers together. The young and very talented Estonian Risto Joost is the new chief conductor of the Nederlands Kamerkoor from season 2011-2012.

For this CD, Risto Joost chose to alternate the works of Pärt with the parts of Palestrina’s Mass, thereby making the dialogue between the two composers audible. The richly flowing lines of Palestrina and the mystical stillness of Pärt form perfect partners. They reinforce each other, not only in musical sense, but also in spiritual expressiveness.
