Nederlands Kamerkoor "outstanding"
20.11.2008“The Nederlands Kamerkoor’s contribution was no less outstanding [...]”, was the conclusion of the NRC Handelsblad’s reviewer Jochem Valkenburg in reaction to the special Messiaen double concert given on 15 November in The Hague. The Residentie Orkest (The Hague Philharmonic) and pianist Ralph van Raat also took part, conducted by Reinbert de Leeuw.
This was a first, and highly successful, collaboration between the Nederlands Kamerkoor and the National Youth Choir, who sang together in Messiaen’s Trois petites liturgies: “In Trois petites liturgies the ladies of the Nederlands Kamerkoor were joined by a number of girls from the National Youth Choir, which added to the angelic quality of the sound.” Angelic and heavenly! The Algemeen Dagblad was just as glowing in its praise: “And the Nederlands Kamerkoor’s singing of O Sacrum Convivium and Cinq
Rechants was pure and crystal-clear.”
