“Stabat Mater” krijgt bijval

“Stabat Mater” well-received

10.03.2008

It may have taken about twenty years, but finally it has happened: the Nederlands Kamerkoor has presented the first concert in its own series in the Grote Zaal of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. With a nicely balanced programme for the Easter season: Stabat Mater. As the headline in the Gelderlander newspaper said about the earlier concert in Arnhem: “Stabat Mater programme makes good alternative”, referring to all the Bach passions being performed at this time of year.

The applause received by the Nederlands Kamerkoor, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, soloists Heleen Koele, Karin van der Poel, Marcel Beekman and Hugo Oliveira and conductor Klaas Stok was more than deserved. “The Nederlands Kamerkoor was in truly top form in Diepenbrock and Kerstens”, wrote the reviewer in Arnhem. “ In Miroir de peine Amsterdam Sinfonietta laid a beautifully sonorous carpet of sound for soprano soloist Heleen Koele, who made a great impression with her vivid delivery.”

‘Bravo!’ to all concerned! And on to the second concert in this series, with Paul Hillier in April (see Concerts).
