“[…] In the CD booklet Dijkstra gives a clear explanation of what it’s all about as far as he’s concerned: a vocal approach, conceived in response to the demands of the voice and the text. This means, for instance, that the ecstatically jubilant interplay of voices in Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied (BWV 228) sparkles without appearing too frenzied. […] The fact that the motets are relatively little known is quite undeserved: in their refinement and beauty they actually show Bach at his best. The Nederlands Kamerkoor succeeds in maintaining transparency and balance in the vocal texture, even in the most complex passages, such as the numerous fugal sections.
