Cd review: Vox Neerlandica II
09.11.2009About the reissue of the Vox Neerlandica II CD, Etcetera KTC 1387
“This is a reissue of a monument to Dutch choral composition of the last two centuries. […] Vox II contains works from the 19th and 20th centuries, conducted by Uwe Gronostay. […] Evidently a successful project, since Etcetera decided to release it all again. And rightly so, because this repertoire is a splendid representation of what has been written for choir in this country since the Renaissance. And it was not only the early schools of the Low Countries that were impressive: the repertoire on Vox II deserves credit too. Verhulst, Diepenbrock, Wagenaar, Hendrik and Jurriaan Andriessen, Voormolen, Nieland, Badings, Strategier, Toebosch, de Klerk, Geraedts, de Leeuw, Joop Voorn and Daan Manneke with works many of which can also be tackled by amateur choirs. But in this course, of course, in superior performances by the Nederlands Kamerkoor in fine form.”
