04.10.2007Concert on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Olivier Messiaen’s birth, on 2 October 2007 in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
“The celebrations kicked off on Tuesday evening, however, with the Nederlands Kamerkoor, which with two a cappella works presented an excellent calling card on behalf of both itself and Messiaen. O sacrum convivium for mixed choir, written shortly before the war, and Cinq rechants for 12 voices, written immediately post-war, are typical examples of Messiaen’s clear and original vision of composition. The choir functioned in a united and homogeneous way, even where Messiaen divides the score into individual voices.”
