14.03.2008“Although it is still three weeks until Easter, the first Passion concerts are already being given. Traditionally that means the appearance of numerous posters for the passions of Bach, but fortunately there is still the occasional example of more creative programming.”
“The first half of the concert consisted of music by Dutch composers, with Diepenbrock’s Stabat mater and Hendrik Andriessen’s Miroir de peine leading us gradually towards Huub Kerstens’ bloodcurdling An einen Frühverstorbenen. The Nederlands Kamerkoor was in truly top form in Diepenbrock and Kerstens. It was remarkable, incidentally, how enthusiastically this not exactly accessible primal scream of Kerstens’ was received by the audience in Arnhem.
In Miroir de peine Amsterdam Sinfonietta laid a beautifully sonorous carpet of sound for soprano soloist Heleen Koele, who made a great impression with her vivid delivery.” [...]
