Review: Stockhausen in memoriam
21.06.2008The Radio Philharmonisch Orkest conducted by Wolfgang Lischke, the Nederlands Kamerkoor conducted by James Wood, and the Asko Ensemble performed works by Karlheinz Stockhausen, who died in December 2007.
"According to certain medieval theologians, the angels in heaven, arranged in concentric rings according to rank, move in circles around God for all eternity. [...]Thursday evening’s concert, in memory of Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928-2007), was perhaps most reminiscent of that angelic ritual. [...]
In ‘Litanei ‘97’ the choir, dressed in white monastic habits, turned in a circle around the conductor. [...] The performance by the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest can only be described as heroic. [...] No less admirable were the performances by the Nederlands Kamerkoor and the Asko Ensemble.”
